Frequently Asked Questions

Is it okay to join if I have no experience?

Absolutely! Match & Make might be the perfect place to give acting a try. It's a space for you to try the craft of acting or directing, as participants are of varied levels of experience with the knowledge that it's an event that's open for all! Come with an open mind, and don't be afraid to ask the Match/Maker or your group for guidance if you're still feeling unsure. Many of our past participants are hobbyists or people who are interested to give the craft a try.

Why can't I choose between acting or directing?

We no longer provide separate options for acting and directing in our form due to the lack of directors monthly, but if you're new and would only like to act or direct, feel free to include it in our form.

What are the types of things I can request?

Anything! That being said, we cannot promise that we'll be able to fulfil them. Match & Make is run entirely by one person, and programming can take time. If we did not get to your request, you are more than welcome to try again at a different session! You may also submit a script of your own choosing that you'd like to play in the Google Form.

Can I come to watch, but not participate?

Unfortunately, we do not accept audience members at this stage. All present at the Match & Make sessions are participants or in the organising team. We encourage you to sign-up as a participant, which will allow you to also sit and support the other teams.

How long should my script be?

The length of the script is dependant on the number of characters. A two-hander is ideally kept at a shorter length of 10 minutes, whereas a scene that includes an ensemble of multiple characters can be stretched to 15-20 minutes!

Can I be paired with my friends?

Of course! Ensure both of you are signed up, and put a request in the form with the name of the person you'd like to be paired with!

Can I be put on a waitlist is sign-ups are full?

Yes! Waitlists are open immediately once we've reached maximum capacity. Simply DM us on Instagram at @match.n.make, or drop us a WhatsApp message at 8083 5147. Once you're on the waitlist, you will be contacted should there be any available slots. The waitlist is active until 24 hours before the start of the event.

Do you accept scripts in other languages?

We currently only accept scripts that are predominantly in English, so that other participants can enjoy and participate in your piece! However, if you have prepared surtitles, we'd be open to including your script.

If your script is in Malay, Tamil or Mandarin, you may also wait for our language series launching 2027. Details will be posted on our Instagram at @match.n.make.
